The Department of Paediatric surgery is manned by one of the senior most paediatric surgeons in Kerala. Many babies are born with severe malformations like congenital diaphragmatic hernia, oesophageal atresia, abdominal wall defects, intestinal obstructions, imperforate anus, urinary obstruction etc. which require urgent and prompt evaluation and proper management by a well experienced paediatric surgeon. With the availability of sophisticated infrastructure, advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Paediatric ICU with ventilator facilities, almost all neonatal and paediatric surgical problems are treated very successfully. Laproscopic surgeries are also done in cases like appendicitis, intra abdominal testis, ovarian cysts etc. for the paediatric age group with very good results.
